2007 Election Information

Welcome to the 2007 TCL Elections information pages.

From October 15th through November 1st, Steve Chino will be accepting nomination for the posts of Club President, Club Secretary/Information Officer, and Amateur Representative. I should note that Ben, Myself (Steve), and Svea are the current office holders do intend to remain on the job if allowed, so the posts will not remain unfilled. However, if you feel that you or someone you know are qualified to do the job, then fill out one of the nominations forms and return it in person to Steve Chino.

All nominees must sign the bottom section of the form before November 2nd (one day after nominations close) to be put on this year's ballot. Neither verbal nomination nor verbal accepting of a nomination will be allowed; all nominations must be made and accepted in writing by using this form: Nominee Form.

Voting will then be held by paper ballot from November 3rd through November 15th and the results posted on November 16th. If any current office holder is voted out, the newly elected official will assume their duties at the end of December.

All nominees, and anyone making a nomination, MUST be a TCL member in good standing with dues paid in full for 2007.

All nominees for the position of Amateur Representative must all still qualify for Am status; i.e. they have never accepted cash winnings in a disc golf tournament. Furthermore, the Am Rep must retain his Am status as long as he or she serves in this position.

I am listed some recommended qualifications below for the various positions. While these qualifications are not required by an office holder according to the TCL constitution, this is what I feel is a list of the most important skills required to do the jobs based on my observations of the running of TCL.

Nominees for the position of Club President should be:

  • A PDGA certified official/ TD.
  • Experienced in installing and maintaining disc golf courses.
  • Experienced in running large PDGA sanctioned events.
  • Capable of devoting 20+ hours per month to the club.
  • A team player capable of working with others towards goals shared by the whole club without feeling the need for personal recognition or praise.
  • Capable of keeping many different and dynamic personalities working together while maintaining order.
  • Able to positively represent the Club to outside parties interested in working with the Club.
  • Able to organize and oversee fundraising activities.

Nominees for the position of Secretary/Information Officer should be:

  • Familiar with word processor and spreadsheet software.
  • Skilled at writing both formal and informal prose.
  • Skilled with modern communications media; i.e. the Internet and electronic communications.
  • Capable of devoting a minimum of 20 hours a month to the club business.
  • Able to organize large amounts of data in both paper and electronic form.
  • Able to maintain relationships with disc golf clubs throughout the Southwest.
  • Able to attend all meetings and be able to take clear, concise notes.
  • A skilled communicator and punctual individual who is able to make sure that all info is in the hands of those who need to know it before they need to know it.
  • A team player capable of working with others towards goals shared by the whole club without feeling the need for personal recognition or praise.

Nominees for the position of Amateur Representative should be:

  • Able to effectively communicate the concerns of the Club's Amateur members to the board and able to report the boards decisions back to the Am membership.
  • Willing to bring concerns of the Club's Am membership to the board and present them fairly, even when those concerns may conflict with the office holder's own views or preferences.
  • Able to spend approximately 10+ hours per month working on Club business.
  • A team player capable of working with others towards goals shared by the whole club without feeling the need for personal recognition or praise.
  • Able to volunteer extra time as needed to working on various Club activities, events, and projects.
